This policy explains how costtocool.co.uk uses cookies and similar browser storage. CostToCool is operated by S. Mulder. For questions, email hello[at]costtocool.co.uk.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small files saved in your browser. Websites can use them to remember a preference, maintain a signed-in session or count visits. Session storage is a separate browser technology that can keep information within a browser tab.
Statcounter analytics
We use Statcounter to understand how people find and use the website. This helps us improve our articles, design and calculators. Statcounter records information such as pages visited, visit dates and times, referring links, IP addresses, and browser and device details.
Statcounter’s standard visitor cookies help distinguish new and returning browsers and estimate visitor numbers. Its published cookie information lists:
| Cookie | Purpose | Listed duration |
|---|---|---|
sc_is_visitor_unique |
A first-party visitor identifier and return-visit counter. | Up to two years |
is_unique |
A third-party cookie used to estimate new and returning visits. | Up to five years |
Your browser settings can affect whether these cookies are stored. Read Statcounter’s cookie information and privacy information for further details.
Calculator storage
The Advanced Calculator saves each calculation route separately in your browser tab, so you can move between steps without losing your work. This session storage can include the room, equipment and schedule details you enter. It is separate from the Quick Check and is not an advertising profile.
Session storage normally lasts for the browser tab or session, although some browsers restore sessions. Use the calculator’s reset controls or clear this website’s browser data to remove saved progress. Downloaded reports remain on your device until you delete them.
The public website
The website has no visitor sign-in or language switcher. You do not need an account to read articles or use the calculators. The site does not currently run advertising.
Contact-form and hosting-security components may also use functional storage to support the service you request or protect the site. These are separate from Statcounter analytics.
Your choices
You can manage, block or delete cookies and other website data through your browser settings. Blocking necessary storage may affect sign-in or saved calculator progress.
Statcounter also provides a visitor opt-out page. Its opt-out works through your browser, so you may need to repeat it on another browser or device, or after clearing stored browser data.
